    What are disadvantages of basing employment on federal character principles in Nigeria?

    The disadvantage is clear and simple. It is in losing talent. Let's take a scenario.

    You own a business that needs to hire six employees all from Nigeria. Great

    Now you've begun recruiting and you've shortlisted 10 candidates who's origins spread across the 6 geo-political zones for the slots.

    Taking federal character into account means you have to hire one person from each zone. Now imagine your best 4 applicants are all from the same zone therefore you can hire only one of them and the next applicant you'll be hiring will be your 5th best applicant.

    Federal character principle tells all of us, albeit, subconsciously, that we are not the same people, and that we must compete for the resources of the country as sub-units of a tribe and/or religious extraction. I don't think that now it is a big problem. For example I'm an online marketer, and I found good job in Ikorodu https://ng.jobsora.com/jobs-ikorodu without any problems.
