As everybody else said, of course you can't work in the UK on a tourist visa.

The tourist visa is actually called a Standard Visitor visa. It's less strict than a lot of other countries because you are allowed to do business. But you're not allowed to engage in paid or unpaid work. For more information see the "visitor rules" link from that above site (Immigration Rules Appendix V: visitor rules)

You haven't said where you're from. Citizens from a few countries can get working holiday visas if they're under 31 years old. Working holiday visa Also check that you don't qualify for right of abode - some people do without knowing it. you might qualify if you had at least one grandparent who was born in the UK and who was a citizen when you were born. Of course if you have a highly in-demand skill you can apply for a skilled migrant visa. I'm assuming also that you're not an EU citizen!

This visa is less strict than a lot of other countries’ tourist visas, but the one restriction that remains the same as a lot of other countries is the same; you are not allowed to engage in paid or unpaid work.
